How eDPI is calculated

eDPI = in-game sensitivity × mouse DPI

eDPI normalizes DPI differences: 1600 DPI at 0.5 sens and 800 DPI at 1.0 sens both equal 800 eDPI. Because it ignores the game's yaw constant, always pair eDPI with cm/360 when comparing across games. This tool shows both.

Typical eDPI ranges (reference)

PlaystyleeDPI bandWhat it feels like
Very lowUnder 200Large arm sweeps; heavy reliance on arm aim
Low200 – 450Typical tactical-shooter band (Valorant, CS2 at low DPI)
Medium450 – 900Balanced wrist + arm aim; most common overall
High900 – 1,600Wrist-dominant; faster turns, less precision margin
Very high1,600+Small mousepad friendly; rare in precision shooters

Bands are approximate reference points, not rules, aim feel is personal and pros exist in most bands.

Frequently asked questions

What is eDPI in gaming?

eDPI (effective dots per inch) is your in-game sensitivity multiplied by your mouse DPI. It shows how far your cursor or crosshair travels per inch of mouse movement. Two players with different DPI can have the same eDPI, which is why eDPI is the fair way to compare aim settings. See the full eDPI guide.

Is eDPI the same as cm/360?

No. eDPI depends on the game's yaw constant, so the same eDPI means different physical turns in different games. cm/360 is the cross-game number. This calculator shows both so you have the complete picture.

What is a good eDPI for Valorant or CS2?

Common competitive ranges: Valorant roughly 200–450 eDPI, CS2 roughly 600–1,600 eDPI at 400–800 DPI. These are starting ranges, the right eDPI is the one that keeps your cm/360 stable between games and comfortable on your mousepad.

Why do pros use low eDPI?

Lower sensitivity magnifies small mouse adjustments, which helps precision aim. Higher eDPI trades some precision for faster clearing and less mousepad space. Most competitive players land in the 25–55 cm/360 range.

Does changing DPI change my eDPI?

Yes, if you double DPI and halve sensitivity, eDPI stays the same and in-game feel is unchanged (assuming raw input). This calculator lets you confirm the exact numbers before deviating.
